Evan Parker Solo
Without any pretentiousness, British saxophonist Evan Parker is among the very few masters of improvised music and modern jazz on the current international scene. Parker has been a pioneer of the art form, exploring a genre that he helped to create and opening new horizons for jazz, when some were already announcing the death of this music. While paying his dues to the Coltrane legacy, Parker also quickly built his own identity, based in particular on his mastery of circular breathing at the source of musical phrases and shaped into genuinely giddy spirals. Parker's solo performances - most of the time on the soprano saxophone - showcase his ability to use any kind of sound made with his instrument, creating a world full of an obvious poetic density. This signature has made Parker into an absolute reference of the modern musical scene.
